Two very different Mississippi State events, both involving special attire of varying amounts, are being sponsored in early February by a university student organization.

At 8 a.m. Saturday [Feb. 5], the Campus Activities Board, along with the MSU Dance Marathon office, is holding a "5K Fun Run" over roadways of the school's South Farm. A variety of prizes will be awarded. The registration fee is $7 in advance; $10 when applying at 7 a.m. on race day. Pre-registration forms may be completed in 118 Colvard Union.

At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday [Feb. 8], the 2000 MSU Bridal Fair opens in the union ballroom. In addition to showing the latest in wedding apparel, the program will feature booths displaying merchandise and services from a range of area businesses. Fair tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance at 118 Colvard Union or at the door.

Proceeds from the run/walk will assist the 110,000 children and families who annually require the services of Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. Dance Marathon is an annual campus-wide fund raising effort supporting Le Bonheur, a regional facility funded primarily by private donations. (This year's MSU Dance Marathon will be held Feb. 26-27.)
