The student-staffed Campus Activities Board is sponsoring a series of special programs next week at Mississippi State University.
"CAB Springfest '98," which takes place Monday through Friday [April 20-24], is designed to serve as lead-in to Super Bulldog Weekend.
The free activities, most of which will be held in or near the Colvard Union, include:
--Monday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Caricaturist/humorist Steve Gipson, known to audiences as "One of America's Fastest Cartoonists," will draw images, inferences and, no doubt, a crowd in the Union lobby.
--Monday, 7-9 p.m. The 1997 Harrison Ford movie "Air Force One" will fly on the Scott Field Jumbotron.
--Tuesday, noon-2 p.m. Starkville coffeehouse singer Jeff Cummings will perform on the Union patio. An ice cream giveaway will take place at the same location, beginning at 12:30.
--Wednesday, 7 p.m. Former Miss MSU and Miss Mississippi Kari Litton Robertson will discuss breast cancer awareness during a Union ballroom presentation. Robertson is a former Pontotoc resident now living in Ridgeland.
--Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Two competitive events, the Bungee Run and the Joust, will test individual human strengths--and weaknesses--at a Drill Field free-for-all.
Though not a direct part of Springfest, the Campus Activities Board also is sponsoring a design contest through 5 p.m. April 24 to develop a new logo for the organization. The winner, who will be named April 28, receives a $200 MSU scholarship.
Super Bulldog Weekend, a series of annual spring semester activities organized by the athletic department, will be held April 24-26.
