Future professions and summer work experiences will be the focus of two campus events being planned in February by Mississippi State University's Career Services Center.

On Feb. 4, Spring Semester Career Day will be held 1-6 p.m. in the outer concourse of Humphrey Coliseum. Representatives from business, industrial, educational, and non-profit organizations will be available to discuss full-time employment opportunities with current and former students. Information also will be provided on internships, general career planning and graduate and professional school openings.

"Career Day has become an MSU tradition that provides excellent networking opportunities for all involved," said Beth Land, the center's assistant director. "Last year's gathering attracted more than 100 organizations and nearly 3,000 students and alumni."

Three weeks after Career Day, Land said the center is sponsoring its first information-sharing program specifically designed for students seeking less-than-permanent work positions.

The Internships and Summer Jobs Fair will take place 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Bost Extension Center auditorium.

"We believe the fair can provide a great resource for students who wish to gain real-world work experience before they graduate," Land said. "After all, previous work experience will be a major selling point when they begin interviewing for career positions."
