Demolition began today [Dec. 11] on MSU's Evans Hall, the four-story residence hall built in 1964. During its 50 years of existence, it housed approximately 13,000 male students and was named for William J. Evans, former associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and head of the political science department. Two new residence halls and a new facility for the Center for America's Veterans will be built on the spot with an expected completion date of summer 2016. Demolition contractor is M&M Services, Inc., of Jackson, and project architect is The McCarty Company of Tupelo.
