Chicago-based watercolor artist Peggy Macnamara was a special guest last week at Mississippi State University's Wise Center. During her Friday [Sept. 19] visit to campus, the professor of scientific illustration at the School of Art Institute of Chicago discussed her nature-inspired artwork and provided a free watercolor technique demonstration. Attendees also got to view various College of Veterinary Medicine animal specimens similar to those Macnamara regularly paints at the Field Museum of Natural History, where she has served since 1990 as artist-in-residence. Macnamara's exhibit, "Migration and Other Natural History Phenomena," is on display through Nov. 8 at the Visual Arts Center Gallery on University Drive.
