Agronomy major Scott May, of Canton, helps spread mulch during the recent Maroon Edition tree planting. Students in professor Paul Meints' gardening experience class planted the tree at MSU's Teaching Arboretum at the Leveck Animal Research Center, better known as South Farm. Tippah County Growers Inc. donated a Ginkgo biloba 'Autumn Gold' tree for the event, which was one of many Maroon Edition activities throughout the year focusing on Wangari Maathai's book "Unbowed." Maathai is best known as an environmentalist and for her involvement in the Green Belt movement.
