Staff in Mississippi State's Forest and Wildlife Research Center measure one of the newest members of the deer herd, a population exceeding 50 white-tailed deer. The white-tailed deer are used to educate the public on one of Mississippi's most treasured and economically-significant species. The herd is also part of an ongoing nutrition and genetic research project led by wildlife biologist Steve Demarais.
