MSU veterinary medicine student David Gillen, right, showcases the Mobile Veterinary Clinic during the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D.C. The festival, which annually draws more than a million visitors, ended Sunday after nearly two weeks of celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Morrill Act, which created land-grant universities. In addition to the veterinary exhibit, which explained the importance of sterilizing animals to combat overpopulation, MSU displayed exhibits about thermal imaging technology and the university's award-winning EcoCAR.
