On display in the Visual Arts Center, the walnut and maple chair in the foreground was created by Sarah Gene Kilpatrick. During a Maymester chair-making class, students researched, designed, drafted, and produced a variety of chairs using several techniques and materials. Students learned to use vacuum pressing, veneering and joinery. Materials included hickory, mahogany, maple, and walnut. The exhibit will be on display at the Visual Arts Center and in the art department office throughout the summer. Visual Arts Center summer hours are Tuesday-Friday from noon until 3 p.m.
