American flags along the Drill Field sidewalks signify Mississippi State's recognition of past and present armed forces members during Veterans Awareness Week. Sponsored by MSU's G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Center for America's Veterans, activities include a Thursday luncheon honoring faculty and staff who are veterans or current service members. On Friday, National Veterans Day, the university's observance begins at 1:30 p.m. with wreaths laid at three MSU memorials, followed by a 2:30 p.m. public, Drill Field ceremony. Events culminate Saturday during halftime of the MSU vs. UA football game when the Pat Tillman Military Scholars will be recognized.
