Visiting with students from the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, Mississippi State researcher John McGinley discusses career opportunities and success stories from the university's Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems. The students toured MSU facilities in the Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park, including CAVS and the High Performance Computing Collaboratory. Helping illustrate student success, McGinley showed the high-achieving high schoolers an EcoCar, a vehicle reengineered by MSU students to improve fuel emissions and decrease fuel consumption. Many automotive companies, suppliers and researchers have heavily recruited MSU students involved in the project.
