As part of the Maroon Edition first-year reading program, which this year focuses on Mississippi author Eudora Welty and her Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, "The Optimist's Daughter," tour guides led a group through two of Starkville's historic cemeteries Tuesday afternoon. Presentations on Welty's interest in photography and cemeteries, the unique characteristics of those in Mississippi, as well as the results of the survey of cemeteries and gravesites in historic Oktibbeha County, preceded a tour of Odd Fellows Cemetery and the Brush Arbor Cemetery across University Drive. The group also discussed themes prevalent in Welty's writings. See more photos by clicking here.
