Nandita Mahajan and Purva Bapat of the MSU Indian Student Association create Rangoli folk art in honor of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Diwali is an annual cultural celebration where friends and family come together to do traditional activities. In the Rangoli competition, held in the Palmeiro Center on Monday evening, four teams created sand drawings with a "togetherness" theme. The competitors only were allowed to use the sand colors provided and their hands to make the decorations, which are thought to bring good luck.
