MSU graduate student Dennis Daniels(r) was the top bidder on the recent United Way silent auction flyover, donated by the Bagley College of Engineering. The flyover, in the university's Stearman biplane, was the third highest bid item and was no new adventure for the public policy and administration major, who holds his own pilot's license. Dr. Philip Bridges(l), a research professor at Raspet Flight Research Lab, discusses the plane's details before taking off. Stearman biplanes are best known for training maneuvers during World War II, but their durability also has led to such uses as crop dusting and mail carrying.
