Despite damp conditions Monday afternoon, The Drill drew a large audience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. Named for the historic Drill Field on which it's held the first day of fall classes, the celebration of the new school year included a mass signing of the Mississippi State creed. Remarks by President Mark Keenum, athletic director Greg Byrne and head football coach Dan Mullen frequently were interrupted with cowbell ringings, another school tradition.
