Kathy Li and the Little Swan Dancing Team were among participants Friday night at the local Chinese New Year observance. More than 500 at the First United Methodist Church enjoyed a celebratory meal and nearly 20 cultural performances organized by the MSU Association of Chinese Students and Scholars. The Year of the Ox, 4707, formally began Jan. 26 but observances may be held anytime between late January and mid-February. The Chinese calendar was begun by Emperor Huangdi in 2637 B.C.E.
