"A River Unleashed: The 1927 Mississippi River Flood" is the featured exhibit at Mitchell Memorial Library. Photographs and maps detailing the catastrophic event that forced nearly a million people from their homes may be viewed through June 12 on the building's second and third floors. Those seeking a deeper immersion in the "Flood" may wish to check out "Rising Tide," author John Barry's well-received 1998 social history of the tragedy.
