The student Black Voices choral group performed Thursday during campus ceremonies launching the African-American studies program. Black studies specialist Jacqueline Wade of Middle Tennessee State University was featured speaker and MSU President Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong was presented with the academic program's first leadership award. The new interdiscliplinary curriculum leads to a minor in the College of Arts and Sciences.
