Former Seiko CEO and president Rei Hara spoke on campus Tuesday about the corporate culture and management style of Asian companies, including Nissan and Toyota, along with an earlier talk about creating startup companies. Nissan opened an automobile manufacturing facility near Canton in 2003, and Toyota recently announced plans to build a manufacturing facility near Tupelo. Hara visited MSU at the request of J.P. Shim, a professor of management information systems who met him in Tokyo in 2006.
