Though it largely had dissipated to a tropical storm in the Texas-Arkansas border area, dying Hurricane Rita spawned a "remnant" that left its mark Sunday on the Mississippi State campus. At around 3 p.m., a tornado swept through the university on a southwest-to-northeast line. While nearly a dozen buildings were damaged, no serious on-campus injuries were reported. On Monday, campus landscape staff member Woody Stallings was among those dealing with the clean-up.
