On Jan. 30, 1976, world-famous comedian Bob Hope (r) was the first entertainer to perform in Mississippi State’s newly opened Humphrey Coliseum. Prior to the program, Hope, who died Monday at age 100, signed autographs for the university’s baseball team, whose locker room then was in the coliseum. Pitcher Louis Turcotte and other members were part of legendary head coach Ron Polk’s first Bulldog team.
