James Orr works to spend each moment acting with integrity, respect, honor, and generosity.
Whether through martial arts training or advancing toward his doctorate in public policy and administration, Mississippi State's director of the Honor Code Council believes in helping others by improving himself.
Speaking with students and others on campus, Orr discusses the importance of following through with actions and not taking the easy way out of responsibilities.
"Taking shortcuts seems to always catch up with people who take them," said Orr, a native of Whiteville, Tenn.
Orr's work with MSU's Honor Code contributes to the culture of acting with integrity and "doing the right thing" as students, faculty, staff, and administrators on campus.
Orr also holds a brown belt in judo, Taekwondo and Akayama Ru Jujutsu. He said he likes to turn challenges in life into opportunities.
"We can run from them or use the opportunity to learn and better ourselves," he said.
