Carlton Young spent the majority of his days as an attorney in Birmingham, Ala., helping physicians set up practices and recruit partners and offering consultation on the legal aspects of the healthcare industry.
After years in the field, however, Young decided to take a new career path and earned his doctorate in healthcare administration. He then began teaching what he had been practicing for more than a decade. In August, he joined the staff at MSU-Meridian as an assistant professor in the fledgling healthcare administration program in the Division of Business.
"As an attorney, I spent my time consulting with physicians on how to run a business effectively. Now, instead of consulting with individual businesses, I am teaching those skills to students to prepare them for a future in healthcare management," Young said. "There is a tremendous reward in watching students progress and graduate and then go into the community with the ability to assist people and make it a better place."
