STARKVILLE, Miss.—High school students from around the state were among recent visitors at Mississippi State who got an in-depth tour of the university’s Mitchell Memorial Library.

Dean of Libraries Frances Coleman and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs Peter Ryan welcomed students from East Webster, Eupora, Kosciusko, and Philadelphia high schools, as well as Jackson Academy.

“The Library Experience” was a daylong event designed for high school librarians and students to increase awareness of resources at MSU Libraries and introduce the students to the library profession.

Students toured Mitchell Memorial’s Charles H. Templeton Sr. Music Museum, John Grisham Room, Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library, as well as the Frank and Virginia Williams Collection of Lincolniana.

During a session in the Digital Media Center, students were introduced to the library’s Mixed Reality Lab, capabilities in 3D printing and T-shirt design and printing, and a maker space.
