STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State is ranked the best university in Mississippi in Money magazine’s “Best College in Every State” 2018 listing. The magazine is a publication of Time Inc.

The study analyzed 727 schools that were eligible for inclusion and ranked these institutions based on 26 factors in three categories—quality of education, affordability and outcomes. For the complete methodology, visit http://time.com/money/5362601/how-money-ranks-best-colleges-2018/.

“With the steady enrollment growth we’ve seen recently, it’s clear our students and their families see tremendous value in an education from Mississippi State,” MSU President Mark E. Keenum said. “Tuition at Mississippi State is far lower than that of our peer research universities and among smaller regional institutions. Our students are getting a great bargain and taking advantage of a tremendous opportunity to earn a high-quality education at one of the nation’s premier research institutions. The value of that education is enhanced further by the fact that Mississippi State graduates earn, on average, the highest starting salaries of any other college graduates in the state.”

MSU provides access and opportunity to students from every area of Mississippi, all 50 states and from countries throughout the world. Enhancing its historic strengths in agriculture, natural resources, engineering, mathematics, and natural and physical sciences, MSU offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs. These include architecture, the fine arts, business, education, the humanities, the social and behavioral sciences, and veterinary medicine.

Building on its land-grant tradition, MSU strategically extends its resources and expertise throughout the state for the benefit of Mississippi’s citizens, offering access for adult learners through its Meridian campus, Extension Service and distance learning programs. MSU is among the National Science Foundation’s Top 100 research universities, and has been ranked in the top 5 percent nationally for agricultural research expenditures for the last 10 years.

MSU placed in the top half of Money’s national “Best Colleges” overall rankings at No. 348. For the complete rankings, visit http://time.com/money/best-colleges/. The list of the best college in every state can be found at http://time.com/money/5401092/best-college-in-every-state-2018/.
