STARKVILLE, Miss.—Award-winning journalist Lisa Ling will speak at Mississippi State on Feb. 26 as part of the MSU Student Association’s Global Lecture Series.

The event, taking place in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium at 7 p.m., is free and open to the public. Though admission is free, tickets are required and will be available in Colvard Student Union Suite 314 starting Feb. 13. Tickets are limited to two per person.

Ling, currently the executive producer and host of CNN’s “This is Life,” will share how her compelling stories from around the world play an important role in positive social change. Since covering the civil war in Afghanistan at age 21, Ling has told stories in dozens of countries around the world and the United States, covering issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder in returning veterans of war, poverty, and prescription pill addiction. She has gone undercover to investigate North Korea and under-age human trafficking, among other topics.

Before producing and hosting “This is Life,” Ling spent five seasons as the executive producer and host of “Our America” on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She previously was a correspondent for the “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” ABC News’ “Nightline,” and “National Geographic Explorer.” During Ling’s time as co-host of “The View” on ABC, the show won its first daytime Emmy award.

Lisa is the co-author of Mother, Daughter, Sister, Bride: Rituals of Womanhood (National Geographic Society, 2005) and Somewhere Inside: One Sister's Captivity in North Korea and the Other's Fight to Bring Her Home (HarperCollins, 2011), which she penned with her sister, Laura.
