STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State University’s Center for Distance Education will celebrate the achievements and growth of its online education programs during National Distance Learning Week, celebrated Nov. 6-10.

The CDE will host a faculty appreciation and open house event on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 4-6 p.m. in Coskrey Auditorium of Memorial Hall at MSU. The event is open to all and will serve as an opportunity for anyone to learn more about MSU’s online degree programs. CDE coordinators and department representatives will be on-hand to share their professional expertise, provide program materials and answer questions in a casual sitting.

“This event will be the perfect opportunity for all who are considering completing their bachelor’s degree or pursuing advanced studies to understand how online learning can assist them in realizing their educational goals,” said Susan Seal, executive director of MSU’s Center for Distance Education.

MSU’s online offerings include 36 accredited bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as professional certificates, from six of the university’s academic colleges.

Currently, online student enrollment totals 1,800, and one-third of all graduate students at MSU take online classes, Seal said.

Earlier this year, U.S. News and World Report ranked MSU’s online Master of Business Administration No. 18 on its list of the nation’s best online business degrees and the Bagley College of Engineering’s online graduate programs at No. 24.

“CDE’s programs receive high marks because everyone involved in developing and delivering MSU online programs is committed to providing a high-quality educational experience,” Seal said.

In addition to the open house, CDE’s social media platforms will feature special greetings throughout the week from MSU President Mark E. Keenum; Provost and Executive Vice President Judy Bonner; and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School Lori Bruce, as well as faculty spotlights, student testimonials and program highlights.

Students and alumni are invited to join the conversation by posting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtags #NDLW and #DistanceAtState.
