Christopher Cross sailing into MSU Riley Center

Christopher Cross, who made the most spectacular debut in Grammy Awards history, will bring his easy-on-the-ears jazz-pop music to the MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian on Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. A pre-show party with refreshments will start at 6 p.m. in the Grand Lobby.

Cross’s 1979 debut album, "Christopher Cross," won five Grammy Awards, including the big four: Album, Song, and Record of the Year, and Best New Artist. The album spawned the number one hit “Sailing” as well as “Never Be the Same,” “Say You’ll Be Mine,” and “Ride Like the Wind.” In 1981, Cross won an Academy Award for Best Song with “Arthur’s Theme (Best You Can Do)” from the movie "Arthur."

Cross has continued writing songs and performing ever since, often surprising concertgoers with his guitar skills. Remarkably, his soaring tenor voice remains as supple and sweet as ever.

Tickets are $59 and $53 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
