STARKVILLE--The Mississippi State University Alumni Association announces Ross Bell of Madison as the winner of the second annual Tuition Raffle. Bell will be awarded 12 credit hours of 'free' tuition for the Spring 2015 semester at Mississippi State.

A freshman accounting major and member of the MSU golf team, Bell said his first reaction after learning that he won the raffle was shock. "I was really excited and it took a while for it to sink in," he added.

The raffle is an ongoing project initiated in 2013 by the student organization of the MSU Alumni Association known as the Alumni Delegates. The raffle is open each semester to any in-state underclassmen enrolled full-time at MSU.

Raffle tickets went on sale in October and were mailed to parents of eligible students to generate financial support. Bell was drawn as the winner in late November.

"The Alumni Delegates tuition drawing is a new tradition to positively influence the student experience and help build a scholarship endowment over time. In its second year, the raffle generated more than $13,000, and the amount beyond the 'free' tuition awarded to Ross Bell will go toward the endowment that will eventually help even more students with tuition expenses," said Jeff Davis, executive director of the association.

Founded in 1980, Alumni Delegates currently consists of a diverse group of 40 students. The organization serves as a liaison between MSU's students and alumni. The group volunteers at alumni events throughout the year and is active in service across campus.
