STARKVILLE, Miss.--New scholarships established by Gulfport residents Bill and Angela Mitchell are benefiting majors in Mississippi State's James Worth Bagley College of Engineering.

The couple recently established the Mitchell Family Scholarships to honor Bill, son Adam and daughter Laura, all engineering alumni of the university. Bill and Adam received civil engineering degrees in 1975 and 2007, respectively, while Laura is a 2013 biological/biomedical engineering graduate.

Bill Mitchell is vice president of Brown, Mitchell & Alexander Inc., a nearly 50 year-old comprehensive, multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm that offers professional services throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. He also holds a 1987 MSU master's degree in public policy and administration.

The scholarships specifically benefit students of good academic standing who are pursuing degrees held by Mitchell family members--civil and environmental engineering, and agricultural and biological engineering.

Selections for 2015 will be announced during the spring semester.
