MSU to revamp mobile web application

With the advent of the new interactive Mississippi State University Campus Map -- http://www.msstate.edu/campus-map -- providing better than ever way-finding service and a host of rich detail about MSU, the university will shut down its current mobile site -- http://m.msstate.edu -- on Friday [Nov. 21].

In consultation with MSU Executive Vice President and Provost Jerry Gilbert, Chief Information Officer Mike Rackley and Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter announced the decision today.

“The current MSU mobile application is outdated and no longer serves MSU’s purposes in a meaningful way,” said Gilbert. “At this time, the Office of Information Technology and the Office of Public Affairs are working on an aggressive timeline for updating the overall look of the MSU website from the home page to the departmental levels. A key part of updating the university’s web presence will also include developing a new mobile application as well.”

Gilbert said the university administration will be considering top-level website design recommendations in the coming weeks. The University Communications Council will also have input into the process, along with the MSU Faculty Senate and MSU Staff Council.
