Lyle Lovett takes Riley stage on Wednesday

Lyle Lovett

Lyle Lovett is one of the most distinctive and original singer/songwriters recording today. His songs combine a talent for incisive, witty lyrical detail with an eclectic array of music, ranging from country and folk to big-band swing and traditional pop.

Lovett and his Acoustic Group will take the stage at the historic MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian on Wednesday [Oct. 22] at 7:30 p.m. for a show no one will want to miss. A pre-show party will take place at 6 p.m.

A singer, composer and actor, Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans fourteen albums. Coupled with his gift of storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers.

Since his self-titled debut in 1986, Lovett has evolved into one of music’s most vibrant and iconic performers.

Lovett has also appeared in 13 feature films and on stage and television. Among his many accolades are four Grammy Awards; he was also given the American Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award and was recently named the Texas State Musician.

Tickets are $59 and $53 at the MSU Riley Center box office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
