STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State's ninth annual "Dawg Daze" begins Saturday [Aug. 9] with the campus-wide move-in day, followed by 17 days of programming for incoming freshmen and transfer students. The schedule is now online at www.dawgdaze.msstate.edu.

Program highlights include Battleship at the Sanderson Center Pool, Service DAWGS Day, Maroon Edition Habitat for Humanity House construction project, and The Drill and Cowbell Yell pep rallies.

Student organizations also will provide participants with free BBQ, smoothies, coffee, pizza, jambalaya, ice cream, snowcones and other culinary treats.

Brent Crocker, recreational sports associate director of programming who is serving his third year as Dawg Daze planning committee chair, said the annual event plays an important role in welcoming incoming students to the Bulldog family.

"Dawg Daze provides a relaxed environment where incoming freshmen and transfer students can engage in fun, safe activities while making new friends, learning their way around campus, and finding out more about the different organizations at Mississippi State," Crocker said.

In addition to the Department of Recreational Sports, program co-sponsors include MSU Panhellenic Council and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Office of Admissions and Scholarships, Department of Health Education and Wellness, Maroon Volunteer Center, Baptist Student Union, National Residence Hall Honorary, MSU Student Association, Music Maker Productions and Holmes Cultural Diversity Center, among others.

Admission to all Dawg Daze activities is free. Since space may be limited for some events, pre-registration may be required. Refer to the Dawg Daze website for specific event details.
