Mississippi State University will close today [April 28] at 3 p.m. due to dangerous weather conditions.
The National Weather Service has placed the Starkville area under a tornado watch until 9 p.m., meaning conditions are favorable for severe tornadoes to form. Be alert to changing conditions. Monitor local media, and be prepared to seek safety if conditions worsen or if sirens sound. Use caution if traveling.
The largest threat continues to be potential tornadoes and severe weather until 9 p.m.
For commuter students, staff members or any others who want a substantial place to gather during the dangerous weather, the Union Dawg House (first floor, Colvard Student Union) is open for you. Please contact the MSU PD or other MSU staff members if you need directions or call 662-325-7454.
Essential personnel will be notified by their supervisor about staffing requirements.
