Italy's top diplomat to the United States visits the state capital next week as a special guest of Mississippi State's Janos Radvanyi Chair in International Security Studies and the university's International Institute.
Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero will be in Jackson Wednesday and Thursday [April 16 and 17], and will speak Thursday at the Executive Lecture Forum. "Transatlantic Relations and the Italian Presidency of the European Union" is the title of his remarks for the noon Fairview Inn program.
Bisogniero, a Rome native promoted to the ambassadorship in 2012, is a career diplomat who previously held other major positions in Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NATO and the United Nations. Bisogniero will be accompanied by his wife, Laura.
Among other activities while in Mississippi, the ambassador and senior MSU administrators Jerry Gilbert and David Shaw will meet with Gov. Phil Bryant. Gilbert is provost and vice president for academic affairs; Shaw, vice president for research and economic development.
Executive Lecture Forums at the Fairview Inn are not public events, but always are open to interested members of the news media.
