Roseanne Cash brings new songs to MSU Riley Center

Roseanne Cash's tour promoting "The River & The Thread" comes to the MSU Riley Center stage this month.

She's lived up North for more than two decades, but listen to her most recent album and you’ll find that Roseanne Cash’s Southern roots and country music pedigree do not fade with time or separation.

Released in January 2014, “The River & The Thread” is Cash’s 13th studio album, and her brief tour promoting its release comes to the MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. A pre-show reception will take place at 6 p.m.

As the eldest daughter of music icon Johnny Cash, Cash resisted the pull of a music career, but discovered early on she could stand on her own musically and step out from the shadow of her father.

For almost 40 years, the Grammy winner has crafted her own style, letting rebellion and confession both play out in her songwriting, singing, and guitar-playing. However, recent albums -- “The List” in 2009 and her most recent release -- have the feel of coming full circle and finding peace with her past, as Cash tells lyrical stories of the places she’s been.

Tickets are $48 and $42 at the MSU Riley Center box office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
