For the 27th year, Mississippi State's risk management and insurance academic program is sponsoring what has become one of the South's largest insurance conferences.

Insurance Day--I-Day, for short--takes place March 25 and 26 at the university's Colvard Student Union.

Over the years, the event has attracted a growing number of professionals from throughout the Southeast with a variety of sessions focused on current industry issues. The College of Business program also offers internship and job placement opportunities for students.

William R. Berkley, CEO of W.R. Berkley Corp., will deliver the keynote address at 3 p.m. on Wednesday [March 26]. Founded in 1967 and based in Connecticut, the corporation he leads is among the nation's premier commercial lines property/casualty insurance providers.

MSU alumnus and MSU Insurance Hall of Fame member Mike Chaney, who serves as Mississippi Department of Insurance commissioner, and several industry executives also will be featured I-Day speakers.

A registration form and complete agenda are available at www.regonline.com/iday2014.

Up to 12 hours of continuing education units are offered for professionals in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. This includes three hours of ethics, in addition to programs in property/casualty, life/health, claims, and continuing legal education.

A golf tournament on Tuesday [March 25] will begin at noon at West Point's Old Waverly Golf Club, followed by a barbeque reception at Dudy Noble Field during the MSU-Southeastern Missouri baseball game.

Also on the 26th, a student career fair will be held in the Colvard Student Union.
