Food security expert from Ghana to visit Monday

Eric Danquah, director of the West African Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) and professor of plant genetics at the University of Ghana, will give a seminar on "Training Plant Breeders for the Future of Food Security in West and Central Africa" in Room 20 of the High Performance Computing Collaboratory (HPC2) in the Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park at 2 p.m. on Monday [March 31].

WACCI was recently selected as one of 15 African Centers of Excellence by the World Bank for its innovative Ph.D. program in plant breeding. Danquah is part of a delegation being hosted by Mississippi State University's International Institute to discuss further academic, research and outreach collaborations between the two universities.
