STARKVILLE, Miss.--Theatre MSU continues its 50th season with a production that is included as one of the university's Black History Month activities sponsored by African American Studies and the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center.
"â¦And the Rain Came to Mayfield" will be featured Feb. 27-March 1 by the theatre program, part of the university's communication department. The student-acted play begins at 7:30 p.m. each day at the McComas Hall Mainstage. Tickets are $10 for general admission and are available online through the department's website at www.comm.msstate.edu/dept/theatre or may be purchased at the door.
Written by Jason Milligan and directed by Donna Clevinger, the drama takes place in the fall of 1962 in the fictional town of Mayfield, Mississippi. The production finds two young men of different backgrounds discovering they have similar dreams of independence despite their individual and societal struggles.
Clevinger said the performance contains adult language and mature themes typical of 1960s Mississippi.
