Study abroad in China interest meeting set

Mississippi State students are invited to a Study Abroad in China information meeting this week. Join fellow MSU students on a three credit cultural- and business-oriented study abroad trip in Beijing and Shanghai in May. An information meeting will be held Thursday [Feb. 20] at 12:30 p.m. in McCool 339.

Learning about doing business in China requires an understanding of Chinese culture, and the role that China’s past plays in the current mindset. Coupling that with site visits to factories, government agencies and even the location of the Beijing Olympic venues will provide a great background on China.

A nine credit hour option is also available. Learn about culture and business and then join in a four-week immersive Chinese language course at either the beginner or advanced level (two classes will be offered). This option meets the study abroad requirement for IB students. If you are thinking of becoming an International Studies minor, this nine credit hour option meets one half of the 18 credit requirement.

The course options are open to both graduate and undergraduate MSU students. There are no pre-requisites for the three credit option and it is open to all MSU students. The nine credit option will include a placement test in China to assign students to the most appropriate course.

If you cannot make the meeting and would like additional information, please contact Kevin Shanahan at kshanahan@business.msstate.edu or the Study Abroad office at 662-325-4242.
