Sidewalk Prophets, a contemporary Christian group, will perform in concert March 5 at Mississippi State University.

Part of the band's "Live Like That Tour," the free 7 p.m. event takes place in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium.

City Harbor and About A Mile, both hailing from Nashville, Tenn., will give opening performances.

Because of ongoing building renovations, seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Entrances and exits may only be made through the east-side--nearest to McCain Hall--doors, with admission/exit wristbands provided upon entering.

The event is sponsored by the university's student-run Music Maker Productions.

Formed in 2001 by lead vocalist Dave Frey and rhythm guitarist Ben McDonald, the Nashville, Tenn.-based group also features lead guitarist Shaun Tomczak, bassist Cal Joslin and drummer Justin Nace.

The band has toured with Jeremy Camp and Audio Adrenaline for the "Strength of Independent" albums. Their first Word Records release, "These Simple Truths," won a 2009 Dove Award for Best New Artist and nomination for pop/contemporary album of the year.

"The Words I Would Say," "You Can Have Me," "Hope Was Born This Night," and "You Love Me Anyway" all are Billboard Christian Singles Top 20 hits.

Sidewalk Prophets also toured in the Rock and Worship Roadshow with MercyMe and Francesca Battistelli, and received another Dove nomination for 2011 group of the year.

"Live Like That," also the name of their latest album, was produced by Ian Eskelin and is a tribute to the band's fans--some of whom were selected to sing background vocals. For more, see www.sidewalkprophets.com or on Twitter at @swprophets.
