Friday celebration marks MSU’s 136th birthday

Join fellow Bulldogs and the MSU Alumni Association as Mississippi State celebrates the 136th anniversary of its creation with a Friday [Feb. 28] birthday party. The date coincides with the 1878 signing of legislation that established the Mississippi Agricultural and Mechanical College, a land-grant institution that would become Mississippi State University.

The campus celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bull Ring near Colvard Student Union. Complimentary cake slices, ice cream and drinks will be served while they last.

Admission to the annual celebration is free, and all students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends are welcome to attend. There is no formal program. In case of inclement weather, the festivities will take place at the Dawg House in Colvard Student Union.
