Depending on your childhood, the prospect of never growing up can be either exciting or terrifying.
But with Neverland as his home, this enchanting notion suits Peter Pan just fine, as youâll discover in the Theatreworks USA production of J.M. Barrieâs classic childrenâs book. The MSU Riley Center hosts the 7 p.m. family show performance on Jan. 31, 2014.
Theatreworksâ stage production is based on John Caird and Trevor Nunnâs 1982 adaption of the book for Londonâs Royal Shakespeare Company.
Those familiar with the classic recall that young Wendy, John and Michael discover Peter Pan in their nursery while living in turn-of-the-century London. Theatreworks director David Schechter translates this story to the stage with the characters of six Edwardian-era children who decide to act out the Peter Pan tale.
Ordinary props and clever puppets allow everyone in the audience to let their imaginations take flight in this journey from London to Neverland and back again.
Tickets are $18 and $10 at the MSU Riley Center box office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
