MEDIA ADVISORY: Statement by Dr. Bill Kibler, Vice President for Student Affairs

Contact: Sid Salter

"Mississippi State University Police Chief Georgia Lindley has resigned from her position effective Dec. 31. She will remain on leave until that date, when she will begin retirement.

"The MSU Police Department is being led by Interim Chief Kenneth Spencer and that leadership will continue as the university evaluates the department's permanent future leadership structure.

"Chief Lindley served the MSU Police Department since 1979 and led the department since 2005. We support her decision as one made in the best interests of the university.

"As always, MSU's primary focus is on maintaining a culture of safety, security and proactive community policing for our students, faculty, staff and our campus visitors. We have great confidence in the men and women who comprise our MSU Police Department.
