The University Florist at Mississippi State announces special events and hours for the holidays.
The shop will be open this week -- Dec. 2-6 -- from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Thursday [Dec. 5] from noon to 1 p.m., Lynette McDougald, AIFD, instructor of floral management and manager of The University Florist, will be presenting a MSU Extension Service Quick Bites program about holiday decorating. The interactive video presentation starts at noon, and so viewers are asked to be at the Floral Design Studio by 11:45 a.m.
The University Florist's open house takes place Friday [Dec. 6], and features holiday decor and a selection of gifts including the popular Mississippi-made McCartys Pottery. There will be snacks and door prizes.
Members of SAIFD, the student chapter of American Institute of Floral Designers, will be fundraising for their spring regional competition with a wreath sale and a raffle for a McCartys blackeyed pea platter during the open house. See TUF staff members for more info or call 662-325-3585.
Beginning Dec. 9, The University Florist will be open between 9 a.m. and noon. The abbreviated schedule is due to the exam schedules of its student staff. That schedule will continue through Dec. 18.
TUF will close on Dec. 18 for winter break.
