From dumpster to design: TRASHION Show returns to MSU

Contact: James Logan

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State architecture majors are showcasing their craftiness Wednesday [Nov. 6] with the annual TRASHION Show and Junk 2 Funk sale.

At 3 p.m. in the Giles Hall gallery, a Junk 2 Funk sale will offer items created from re-purposed materials by students in the university's College the Art, Architecture and Design. Proceeds will be split by the individual craft designers and MSU's chapter of the sponsoring National Organization of Minority Architecture Students.

Now in its fifth year and also in MSU's architecture building, Giles Hall, the TRASHION Show is a runway production organized by NOMAS, with assistance from MSU Fashion Board members.

To begin at 7 p.m., the "trash-to-fashion" event will feature creative designs, music, make-up, lighting and models. Last year, entries were made of telephone book pages, bottle caps, bubble wrap, and duct tape, among other non-traditional clothing materials.

Both events are open to all, but donations will be accepted for the TRASHION Show. For more, visit http://caad.msstate.edu.
