STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi Stateʼs music department will welcome prospective music and music education majors Nov. 11 during the university's 2013 Music Discovery Day.
Nov. 6 is the registration deadline and online registration may be completed at www.music.msstate.edu/discover. The $5 registration fee may be paid at check-in.
Designed to provide comprehensive information about the academic program and careers after graduation, the annual daylong open house will involve high school juniors and seniors, community college students, and their parents. Participants will meet with both university faculty members and currently enrolled students.
"Music Discovery Day is the perfect time for prospective music majors to meet our fine faculty, to hear faculty and student performances, to observe rehearsals, and to explore our campus," said event coordinator Tara Warfield. "If a student is even considering majoring in music, we would strongly encourage them to attend this event."
"We also will have a question-and-answer session later in the day to make certain everyone who attends leaves with a clear picture of what it's like to be a music major at MSU," Warfield added.
Music classes and performances, along with a campus tour, are part of the visitor schedule. Additionally, representatives of the Office of Admissions and Scholarships will be available to answer questions about financial aid and the application process.
