Each year on the last Saturday of October, USA Weekend Magazine hosts Make A Difference Day, and this year the Maroon Volunteer Center at Mississippi State University invites student, faculty and staff to participate in this national day of service.
In honor of Make A Difference Day, Volunteer Starkville, the Maroon Volunteer Center, Modern Woodmen of America and the Starkville Cemetery Association are hosting a cemetery cleanup on Oct. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Participants will beautify the grounds of the Odd Fellows Cemetery, which is located along University Drive across from City Bagel in Starkville.
After a complimentary breakfast provided by Modern Woodmen, volunteers will learn about the history of Old Fellows Cemetery on a short 15-minute history lesson, and then assist in cleaning up the grounds with other community and campus volunteers. Water and gloves will also be provided. Dress comfortably, and it is recommended that participants wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes.
