FSU's Yancey to discuss MSU's 'Maroon & Write' QEP

Learn about writing across the curriculum and the "Maroon & Write" quality enhancement plan from Dr. Kathleen Yancey, Florida State University Distinguished Research Professor.
She will lead a free, open presentation Wednesday [Oct. 9], from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in Bill R. Foster Ballroom at Colvard Student Union.
Mississippi State's QEP is fostering a writing-centered culture on campus by incorporating writing-to-learn strategies in all university disciplines. Yancey has been promoting these kinds of learning strategies for more than 20 years, and universities sponsoring writing-to-learn initiatives repeatedly reference her books and presentations on the subject.
Yancey leads the rhetoric and writing graduate program at Florida State, and her research focuses on composition studies generally; on writing assessments, especially print and electronic portfolios; and on the intersections of culture, literacy and technologies.
