STARKVILLE, Miss.--The internationally recognized Portland Cello Project brings its very special style of musical entertainment to Mississippi State for a Nov. 5 concert in the university's 2013-14 Lyceum Series.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium. Because of continuing renovations to the historic building, Lyceum seating this year is general admission only.
Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased at www.lyceum.msstate.edu/#!series-events.
Formed in 2007, the Oregon-based group has built a reputation for mixing genres and blurring music lines and perceptions. No two shows are alike, thanks to a repertoire now numbering more than 800 musical pieces.
Known to fans worldwide by the affectionate shorthand of "PCP," the string collective has, since its beginning, proclaimed a three-fold mission:
--To bring the cello to places you normally wouldn't hear it;
--Play music on a cello you wouldn't normally play on the instrument; and
